About HOAEXP
HOAEXP was born from years of travelling, studying and building relationships across Africa. Today, we design private journeys, safaris and expeditions with the knowledge that only comes from being on the ground.
The idea behind Heart of Africa Expedition was born in 2017: to combine a passion for travel with a project able to enter the African travel ecosystem in a more conscious and less extractive way.
In 2018, Stefano began developing the project from the Zanzibar archipelago, working as a digital nomad while travelling, studying destinations and building the first foundations of what would later become HOAEXP.
The deeper the project moved into Africa, the clearer one thing became: the continent could not be understood from brochures, assumptions or distant market logic. It had to be studied on the ground, through people, routes, seasons, logistics, mistakes, long journeys and real collaboration.
Years of field exploration changed the project. What began as an idea became a travel company shaped by direct experience, local relationships and a more realistic understanding of how Africa travel actually works.
HOAEXP today designs private journeys across Africa for travellers: luxury safaris, expeditions, Kilimanjaro climbs, beach extensions, cultural routes and multi-country itineraries.
